I wasn't going to mention anything about it here but just comment on journal entries by folks I watch. However, I've changed my mind and here is how I see the situation.
So Germany will face Argentina. Not much of a surprise that Germany made it, but Argentina? Having watched them both play in this WC, the edge has to go to Germany. Their play, when they "try", is head and shoulders above any team I have seen. I certainly hope that they "try" against Argentina; excellent chance for a 3+ - 0 shutout.
Argentina vs. Holland - I really thought Holland would win, they played better overall than Argentina but just weren't aggressive when they had the ball. Argentina on the other hand took advantage of every mistake/opportunity and still couldn't score. Very questionable choices for Holland during penalty kick phase. Robben looked tired and Van Persie was nonexistent. A real shame.
Holland vs. Brazil - If Holland plays well they should beat Brazil unless Brazil has learned to play as a team in the past few days. I say that given their abysmal performance against Germany and a lackluster win over Colombia whom I had picked to beat them. The current Brazilian team is nothing like the teams of old. They just do not play as a team. The Brazilian people deserve better imho.
Final thoughts - Germany finally wins a modern day world cup as a united country. Brazil needs to rethink its play methodology if it is ever to have a chance in the future. Holland and the U.S. should be a threat to win it in 4 years if they can keep most/all their current lineup. Argentina needs to give Messi a better supporting cast if they plan to challenge for the cup next time. There will no doubt be dark horses like Colombia and Costa Rica were this go round. Lastly, I hope FIFA finally gets a handle on all of its and international football's corruption issues.
